Over 1,000 Displaced as St. Vincent Hospital Closes Doors

More than 1,000 employees were laid off at the bankrupt St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan.A statement released by the hospital said “St. Vincent’s Hospital is deeply grateful for their years of dedication and service, especially during these difficult times.”
A job fair is being held Thursday and Friday for the displaced staff in hopes to find them employment in a timely manner.
Lawyer Yetta Kurland is filing a lawsuit against the hospital for shutting down operations before receiving approval from the State Department of Health, a violation of state law.
“That is unthinkable, and we need to immediately stop that,” said Ms. Kurland.
