The budget-strapped Philadelphia School District’s decision to layoff 1,202 noontime aides has prompted a hunger strike protest by two parents and two school district employees. The hunger strike is happening outside the governor’s office in Philadelphia. The protestors plan to drink only water until funds are available to rehire the aides. A union representing the noontime aides said the elimination of their jobs places students in danger. The school district faces a $304 budget shortfall that would need to be corrected by the end of June for the aides to be rehired for next school year.
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
