Job Description:
Reporting to the Vice President, Connectivity and Reliability, this Director position will be accountable for the engineering of Bell's Core Network, and infrastructure that keeps Canadians connected!
The selected candidate will have the mandate to support the coast-to-coast team designing and managing Bell Canada's Core Network, with focus on the its technology evolution to support increasing growth and demand.
In order to serve our customers, the incumbent has to work in partnership with various vendors and Bell Canada business units such as Customer Experience (Field Services & Customer Operations), BRS, BBM , IT, Products, Corporate Security, Real Estate and in constant partnership with all of the Network teams.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
• Lead the design of reliable networks, and support operations as needed
• Drive unit cost improvement to constantly reduce capacity costs across the network
• Sustain and accelerate continuous improvement initiative driving improved workflow and customer experience
• Support and growth management & non-management unionized work forces (attract, retain and develop)
• Partnership with Local Union executive team
• Lead Post Mortem activities to learn from incidents and avoid reoccurrence
Essential Qualifications :
• University degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years experience in telecommunications or IT engineering and/or operations
• Minimum of 6 years of people management experience, with strong coaching skills
• Understanding of telecommunications technologies and best practices
• Understanding of cloud based technologies and software engineering best practices would be highly beneficial
• Knowledge of IP (Internet Protocols) and optical network technology and architecture highly desirable.
• Proven ability to summarize complex issues into key and relevant information and be able to communicate to stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience with lean management, continuous improvement and problem solving methodologies and techniques and ability to coach the same to Senior Managers
• Analytical mindset: ability to extract information and knowledge from multiple sources of data
• Strong pragmatic problem solving skills with deductive reasoning capabilities
• Genuine desire and ability to lead coach and develop employee talent
• Able to develop and ensure the delivery of a business plan
• Very organised and aptitude for coordination of initiatives across many teams
• Recognized leader with clear track record of using teamwork to create competitive advantage
• Bilingual (English and French) is an asset
• No constraint with traveling when needed for business reasons
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
