Circuit Provisioning Specialist 1
The Telecommunications Division delivers telecommunication infrastructure solutions to utilities, local and state government agencies and the commercial wireless industry. Functions in an entry or mid-level engineering capacity, or technical specialist provisioning telecommunications services over an existing fiber optic network.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Circuit Provisioning Engineer or Specialistâ€™s primary responsibility is to work collaboratively with the operations and engineering teams to provision new fiber optic based services at customer locations. This will follow existing processes and procedures to ensure tasks in managing a new fiber order are met.
â€¢Produce design of the new circuit to be established including - plan for service (on-net vs. off-net), equipment to be used at the customer premise, bill of Materials to support the service, and facility assignments including space and poser requirements.
â€¢Develop a documentation Package for the operations team to turn up service including - any drawing required, SONET Mapping, Fiber Assignments, Basic Router Drawings (IP and port Assignments), Rack Face Drawings and RU assignment.
â€¢Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in the turn-up of end-user locations.
â€¢Monitor and evaluate design quality and scheduled delivery as defined by the Engineering Manager.
â€¢Operate in a safe manner and in accordance with Division safety policies and standards.
â€¢Interpret telecom facilities records on maps and fielding notes.
â€¢Ability to communicate clearly with contractors.
â€¢Ability to pay close attention to detail and make sound decisions using information at hand.
â€¢Maintain project records and files as defined in the Project Execution Manual and as directed by the Engineering Manager.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
â€¢Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities.
â€¢Typically, a minimum of 6 months to 2 years related work experience in telecommunications.
â€¢Ideal candidates will have some experience using Metasolv Telecommunications Business System to execute the workflow of provisioning a high-speed Gigabit network. They should be familiar with the OSS module for provisioning scripts to update the equipment directly from Metasolv.
â€¢The candidate should be familiar with packet based switching and IP VLAN type assignments to complete circuits within the end to end path.
â€¢This candidate should have a working aptitude of MS Tools, specifically VISIO that might need to be used to update drawings related to new circuit orders.
â€¢The candidate will need to be able to log into new devices and load basic configurations that will allow the equipment to be commissioned in the field and remotely accessed by the customer technical team. Experience with Light River routers is a plus.
â€¢Candidate should be able to ensure follow-up that a provisioned circuit is fully installed, tested end to end, and fully documented within their CLR (Circuit Layout Record) and closed out as a working production connection after successful verification. Red lines sent back to candidate if needed to be edited in Metasolv after activation should solution have deviated from documented solution.
