Provides Tier I support for communications infrastructure projects, telephone systems, network cable repair, and installation. Performs moves, adds, and changes for voice and network communications systems. This position may be required to support desktop computers in coordination with the IT Support team as well as provide on call support during non-business hours including nights and weekends as needed.

Education and Experience
Associate's Degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited educational institution. Three years of experience in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications / network and related equipment; or five years of recent experience in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications/Voice Over IP systems and job-related equipment. An equivalent combination of education and job related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
Desirable Qualifications: CompTIA A Certification or CompTIA Network Certification or BICSI Technician
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:
Installs, diagnoses problems, performs repairs, and maintains communications equipment, including wireless access points, gateways, VoIP equipment and telephones. Performs a variety of communication duties including the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of voice, data and fiber optic cabling. Updates and maintains documentation related to telecommunications, such as cable records, standard operating procedures (SOP's), and Visio drawings. Identifies and diagnoses circuit failures, notifies service provider of outages, manages provider response and coordinates service restoration. Provides general information and/or training on the telephone systems operation to employees. Maintains awareness and actively promotes IT policies and safety standards. Possesses and maintains a valid Arizona driver license in good standing. May operate a city vehicle or a personal vehicle on city business.
