Sr. Network Engineer

Profile

We are looking for a Network Engineer III who will be responsible for the engineering, design, configuration, installation, maintenance and upgrade of the local area network (LAN) and/or wide area network (WAN). Provides technical support to various departments and users with regards to the LAN/WAN. May serve as a liaison with vendors and other third party providers.
Responsibilities:
- Performs moderately complex engineering, design, implementation and maintenance tasks on the LAN and/or WANReview assessments, approve them, and develop and implementation plan for make the upgrades
- Review anomalies that are broad and potentially service impacting
- Research, evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions
- Serves as a troubleshooter on moderately complex network problems
- Acts as an escalation point for high level customer issues
- Regular interaction with vendors to investigate new equipment and services
- Reviews contracts, approves invoices and maintains close contact with existing vendors of equipment and services
- Responsible for evaluating cost and quality of equipment and services; and provides recommendations
- Responsible for the implementation planning prior to the actual installation of hardware such as routers, bridges and switches
- Remains informed of new developments and trends; may make recommendations to management on desirable additions and developments
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Good knowledge of network operations
- Good knowledge of Cisco hardware and IOS
- Good knowledge of servers, switches, routers, and various network services
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems is preferred
- CCNA required
- Requires 4 to 5 years of network engineering experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service oriented position preferred
- Must exhibit a FANATICAL customer service attitude
- Good problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Due to the 24x7 operations of the facility, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, perform on-call duties, may include nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
