Description:

SAIC is seeking an RF Engineer (Analog or Digital) to join our Chantilly, VA based team.

The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer:

- Support the customer in the oversight of the design, integration and test of spacecraft payloads

- Provide expert advice and coordination concerning RF development

- Assess feasibility of new RF insertions and RF functionality enhancements

- Review and coordinate on changes to specifications, lCDs and system level requirements documentation pertaining to the functionality and accommodation of RF hardware onto the satellite bus

- Review drawings, documents and procedures for RF design, manufacturing, integration, program planning and execution: provide comments to the contractor and/or government

- Track development issues, significant accomplishments and upcoming events and provide weekly status updates to the customer

- Develop RF unit models for performance evaluations and predictions

- Attend RF and payload level design reviews and program management reviews to assess RF design maturity, requirements compliance and to provide informed technical recommendations to the USG

- Identify and assess emerging risks; develop and evaluate proposed burn-down plans

- Review prime contractor readiness to proceed into RF manufacturing and test

- Provide expert advice/analysis on interface considerations for new RF developments

- Coordinate with payload subsystem leads, branch chiefs and division chiefs in support of new payload and payload subsystem initiatives

- Provide support to launch and satellite on-orbit test as required by the customer

- Attend branch meetings as appropriate at the request of the customer to coordinate support activities Provide technical evaluation of payload efforts in contractor Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)

- Attend contractor milestone reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, pretest, pre- ship and other meetings) to provide technically based recommendations regarding satisfaction of RF related review entrance and exit criteria Provide support to factory integration and test activities as required

- Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, function as counterparts, and other payload and payload subsystem subject matter experts

- Advise and mentor USG Payload RF subsystem personnel regarding RF subsystem design elements

- Perform technical oversight of RF unit and antenna development on behalf of or in support of a government point of contact (GPOC).

- Review and evaluation of contractor RF designs, trade studies, verification and validation methodologies, hardware test and evaluation, and manufacturing practices.

- Experience and knowledge of spacecraft power designs, radiation effects, and EMI/EMC evaluation desired.

- Supporting duties include schedule tracking, risk and opportunity assessment, change management, and contractual change management.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Bachelors 14 years or more experience; Masters and 12 years and PHD and 9 years.

- Experience with spacecraft RF design; manufacture, and test

- Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures

- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment

- Experience in DOD/lC acquisition and program management processes

- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Demonstrated sustained superior performance

- Available to travel domestically

Desired Experience:

- Analog or digital experience

- Satellite RF unit development

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

- Clearance Level Must Possess: TS/SCI with Poly
