Director, Technology (Engineering)','1719891','','Cox Communications','!*!Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering and Operations, the Director of CB Network Engineering leads the team that performs design, integration, testing, and trending of all hardware and software components for Cox Business networks. This team supports a high growth area for Cox. Successful candidates will lead the team to select evolving technologies that increase network flexibility while continuing to ensure network reliability best practices are met. The Director conducts strategic network assessments based upon emerging network trends, technologies, and/or future service offerings and develops plans to address needs. The position calls for strong organizational and influencing skills and the ability to build internal networks with business and technology leaders. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Lead Engineering Design and Sustaining efforts
Collaborates with technology suppliers in defining and development of technologies to build our core networks
Collaborates with other Cox Engineering/Operations Teams, Application, Strategy & Development, Product, and Marketing staff
Leads team to create strategic roadmaps based upon demand, capacity, emerging network services, network and security trends, and technologies
Plans future network enhancements and directions for Cox Business domains
Coaches and develops people leaders as well as engineers on the team.
Conducts engineering economic, alternative, and feasibility evaluations
Analyzes and manages capital and expense budgets. Builds and maintains business cases
Responsible for recruiting and identifying talent for the team
Continued process and reliability improvement for infrastructure through analyzing metrics and trends of the production network
10 years of experience in related field (i.e. Information Technology, Engineering, project management) or academic equivalent training or projects
Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
Prior leadership experience as a people leader
Previous experience managing budgets
History of hiring and developing teams
Strong understanding of the OSI model
Understanding of core networking technologies including BGP/MPLS, MEF, DWDM, Network OAM, etc.
MS/MA and 3 years of experience in related field
Additional related industry experience in lieu of degree
3 or more years of experience in a management role
Experience in telecommunications industry desired
Certifications including CCNP, CCIP, JNCIP, CISSP, CISM, CCIE, etc.
Previous network experience in the MSO, telecom, or technology industry
