The employee is responsible for all aspects of design of in-building fiber optic and standalone repeater systems in iBwave (Level 1) for the enhancement of Public Safety and Commercial Wireless coverage. Additional responsibilities include passive intermodulation analysis, and CW & active system drive test analysis. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Completing site surveys to determine coverage/building requirements and customer needs factors affecting design and installation Working knowledge of RF principles. This includes antenna theory basics, transmit and receive basics (free space path loss) Working knowledge of communication theory including measurement metrics for CDMA, Ev-DO, UMTS, LTE, and channel/band assignments Developing and analyzing RF link budgets using iBwave Repeater Design: calculation of antenna gain, line loss and amplification Design of fiber distribution needed as well as passive component insertion losses and gains Drafting customer design document proposals describing recommended coverage solutions best suited for environmental and customer needs Conduct pre-construction walks DAS equipment knowledge including: head end and remote unit location selection (power, grounding, space), repeater knowledge, DAS equipment and Base stations Employee is responsible for the commissioning and testing of new systems. More specifically: Working knowledge of Public Safety Radio System Architecture Mastery of OEM hardware including but not limited to Mobile Access, Teko, ADRF, and SOLiD, Fiplex, CommScope Mastery of test equipment including but not limited to Spectrum Analyzers, Cable Analyzer, Site Master, Cell/BTS Master, CW Testing, OTDR, Nemo Outdoor, PIM Analyzer, and Phone Testing Troubleshooting system problems to satisfactory resolution Work with OEM technical support staff to address and solve problems to customer’s satisfaction Analyzing various coverage data collected Provide training to other employees Provide technical support to others Preparation of Close Out Packages for customer submission Reconcile and document necessary paperwork for expenses and billing Employee must have a solid understanding of wireless networks, including modulation techniques (CDMA, EVDO, LTE, UMTS, HSPA, GSM, etc.), amplifier/antenna/cable theory, link budgets, propagation tools, proficient knowledge of RF test equipment, MapInfo, Visio, software. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Bachelors of Science Degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent from a four-year college. iBwave Level 1 Certification a must, Level 2 a plus. Must frequently be able to lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds. A valid driver’s license and frequent travel (20-50%) is necessary for this position.
