The New York Programs Unit is seeking an experienced engineer to become part of our team on the Emergency Communications Transformation Program (ECTP2) as a Telecom Engineer. Job Description Telecom Engineer with strong LMR experience is needed to provide support on the Emergency Communications Transformation Program (ECTP2). ECTP2 program objective is to design and implement an state-of-the-art E911 dispatch Center to support New York City's public safety agencies. The candidate will work with the City and world class solution providers on systems designed to provide E911 Services to the Citizens of NYC. The position requires the candidate to interface with the customer and user communities to gather requirements, develop solutions, and integrate to customer systems. The candidate will have direct interaction on project's matters with the client's and subcontractors' management teams. The Telecom Engineer will support the design, technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for the E911 Center's Radio Console Subsystem solution. She/he will lead analysis at all levels of the telecommunications system to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal, and ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The candidate will perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of Motorola's public safety LMR Radio System is a must (voice and data). In addition to that the candidate must have strong analytical as well as verbal and written communications skills and practical working knowledge of programmatic skills, including scheduling and cost, are required. Minimum education required: Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering or IT/Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines and at least 10 years of Telecommunications or related Engineering experience. Additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Position is based in New York City with some relocation assistance possible.
Preferred Qualifications:
A solid understanding of public safety concepts of operations is also desired.
